Disable the JetBackup (step 8)

Step 8 of Bring from JetBackup: retires the JetBackup in two moves: disable (reversible) and, 7 days later, uninstall (no way back). The JetBackup backups stay on the storage, and Salvo keeps reading and restoring them.

● available in 0.4.183  cPanel and DirectAdmin. Opens when every job was taken over (step 6); done with the JetBackup disabled.

On the screen

Bring from JB › 8 · Disable the JB.

Before disabling

Four conditions, each with ✓ or ✕, what is missing and, when a step solves it, Go to step N (jobs → step 6, legacy → step 7; the backups are solved by a Salvo backup and by the JetBackup configuration job running):

  1. All account jobs taken over (step 6).
  2. A good backup of every account in the Salvo in the last 24 h (from any job).
  3. Legacy recycled at least once (step 7), or nothing of JetBackup in the catalog.
  4. Recent backup of the JetBackup configuration (last 7 days): the JetBackup Config job ran.

Step 8: the conditions and the two moves

1 · Disable the JetBackup (reversible)

Stops and turns off the JetBackup services (jetbackup5d and its MongoDB, jetmongod). It asks for a confirmation and the app code. The JetBackup backups stay on the storage and keep showing in Restore; the configuration stays on the server. Then the step shows Disabled on … by … and Enable the JetBackup again. The jobs stay the Salvo's: to give a job back to JetBackup, use step 6.

2 · Uninstall the JetBackup (no way back)

Only from 7 days after disabling (Available from …). It runs jetapps --remove jetbackup5-cpanel (on DirectAdmin, jetbackup5-directadmin) and asks for a confirmation and the app code. Salvo keeps reading and restoring the JetBackup backups on the storage.

Disabling, enabling again and uninstalling go to the Audit.

On the command line

root@server
# disable (only with the four conditions met)
/var/lib/salvo/salvo jb-transition-disable
# turn it on again (the jobs stay the Salvo's)
/var/lib/salvo/salvo jb-transition-reenable
# uninstall (7 days after disabling; no way back)
/var/lib/salvo/salvo jb-transition-uninstall
Uninstalling has no way back

Disable first and live with the JetBackup off for the 7 days. To have it back after uninstalling, it has to be installed again with jetapps.
