Bring from JetBackup
Bring from JetBackup is the assistant that moves a server from JetBackup to Salvo without leaving it without backups at any moment. It is in WHM › Plugins › Salvo Backup › Bring from JetBackup (menu Server).
It has 8 steps in two phases. You approve each step, and you can stop and come back days later. The number in the side menu (Bring from JB 8/8) is the current step, the next one to do, not how many are done.
| Step | What it does | Status | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phase A · Import (minutes) | |||
| 1 · Find the JB | reads what JetBackup has (only reads) | ● available | Import |
| 2 · Destinations | checks the storage key, the Salvo folder and the access | ● available | Import |
| 3 · Jobs | decides how each job comes in: paused, active or out | ● available | Import |
| 4 · Review and import | writes only what you approved | ● available | Import |
| Phase B · Take over (days or weeks) | |||
| 5 · Coexistence | JetBackup (read through its API) and Salvo side by side, account by account: the accounts that differ, by category, with the action for each; how many jobs are ready to take over | ● available nights side by side: coming | |
| 6 · Take over a job | Salvo owns the job; JetBackup's job is turned off | ● available | Take over a job |
| 7 · Recycle | deletes JetBackup's old backups past the retention, and those of deleted accounts by your rule | ● available | Recycle |
| 8 · Disable the JB | stops the JetBackup services, then (7 days later) uninstalls | ● available | Disable |
What the assistant guarantees
- Until step 4, Salvo only reads JetBackup: nothing is deleted, moved or turned off.
- Salvo writes to the same storage, in a folder of its own (
salvo/), and never touches thejetbackup_*folders. - A job is turned off in JetBackup only at step 6, one job at a time, and Give back to JB undoes it.
Between step 4 and step 6, run the first backup and turn on the schedules.
